The Vacancy
Location: St Luke’s Hospice, Little Common Lane, S11 9NE
Hours: 30 hours per week
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse looking to make a real difference in palliative care? St Luke’s Hospice is seeking a caring and professional Staff Nurse to join our In-Patient Centre team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide outstanding holistic care to patients, ensuring dignity, safety, and emotional well-being at all times.
About the Role
As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred nursing care. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support patients with complex needs, ensuring they receive the highest standard of physical, psychological, and emotional support. You will also act as a role model and mentor to junior staff, fostering a caring and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake comprehensive nursing assessments and develop personalised care plans.
Provide support and guidance to patients, families, and colleagues.
Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, attending MDT meetings.
Administer medication safely and in line with NMC and hospice guidelines.
Maintain accurate, confidential patient records.
Demonstrate leadership by supervising and mentoring junior staff.
Ensure safe use and storage of specialist equipment.
Contribute to audits, research, and service development.
What We’re Looking For
Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a minimum of 12 months post-registration experience.
Experience working as part of a nursing team.
Knowledge of the palliative care approach and a passion for delivering compassionate end-of-life care.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work effectively within a team, demonstrating leadership and mentorship skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
