Are you a friendly, approachable individual with excellent communication skills? Do you enjoy being the welcoming face of an organisation that makes a real difference?

St Luke’s Hospice is looking for a compassionate and reliable Bank Receptionist to join our valued Reception team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support our patients, families, staff, and visitors by providing a warm welcome and efficient front-of-house service.

About the Role

As the first point of contact at our busy hospice reception, you’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Whether greeting patients and families, answering telephone calls, or supporting our clinical teams with administrative tasks, you’ll ensure communication flows smoothly across the hospice.

What does “Bank Staff” mean?
As a Bank Receptionist, you'll join our flexible pool of staff who cover shifts on an as-needed basis. This could include planned absences, busy periods, or short-notice cover. It’s a great option if you’re looking for flexible work that fits around your lifestyle, while still making a meaningful contribution to patient care and support services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet all visitors with warmth and professionalism

  • Handle enquiries in person, over the phone, and via our nurse call system

  • Support departments with messages and coordination of information

  • Receive post and deliveries and manage them accordingly

  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care

  • Handle occasional cash transactions and follow reception protocols

  • Act as a key point of contact in emergency situations such as fire evacuations

This is a bank role, offering flexibility and the chance to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, depending on service needs.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Confident in dealing with people from all walks of life

  • Calm, clear, and professional in communication

  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

  • Reliable and flexible, with a willingness to support the team when needed

  • Comfortable using phones, handling basic administrative tasks, and managing a reception area

Previous experience in a reception or front-of-house role is desirable but not essential – your attitude, warmth, and commitment to our values are what matter most.

Why Join St Luke’s?

At St Luke’s Hospice, we are guided by our values: Compassionate, Dignified, Inspired, and Pioneering. We offer a supportive and inclusive environment where your contribution is truly valued. As a Bank Receptionist, you’ll have the opportunity to be part of a caring team and gain experience in a rewarding healthcare setting.
