At St Luke’s Hospice, our Ward Clerks play a vital role at the heart of the Inpatient Centre. You’ll be the first friendly face people see, the organised mind behind the scenes, and a key support to our clinical teams, making a real difference every single day.


What you’ll do

  • Welcome patients, families, visitors and professionals with warmth, compassion and professionalism
  • Manage phone, email and face‑to‑face enquiries sensitively and efficiently
  • Keep patient records accurate and up to date using hospice systems (including SystmOne)
  • Support admissions, discharges and daily referral meetings
  • Coordinate communication between wards, departments and external agencies
  • Liaise with transport services, funeral directors and healthcare partners
  • Support volunteers and promote hospice fundraising activities
  • Provide essential admin support to nursing and medical teams

Who we’re looking for

You’ll be:

  • Warm, empathetic and confident dealing with sensitive situations
  • Highly organised with great attention to detail
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
  • Comfortable using IT systems and handling confidential information
  • Aligned with St Luke’s values and committed to inclusive, compassionate care

Healthcare or admin experience is helpful, but your attitude, empathy and willingness to learn matter most.
